The deep knowledge of giving first aid is a really useful tool in everyday life of all people and especially of those who work as teachers in primary education. That happens because, according to the evidence which will be provided below, accidents are a frequent phenomenon which bring along, sometimes, terrible consequences. In our research, two hundred teachers of primary education took part. The main goal is to broaden the knowledge and reform the attitudes of the educators in matters of first aid provision and, especially, in what has to do with their training on that. From the results of the research it could be claimed that a big part of educators has been trained in matters of first aid but without being fully prepared, if they are needed, while another part of them does not have any kind of training in case of emergency. It is only a small part of schoolteachers that possesses the knowledge to be sufficient enough when it is needed. The need of training those who do not have the proper knowledge of first aid seems to be more than crucial and the same goes for those who were trained in the past as they ought to keep up to date their previous knowledge; if that does not happen the competence of the latter will decline or used in a wrong way. Teachers’ edification ought to be both theoretical (based on modern teaching methods) and practical as it is the only way, according to contemporary bibliography, to fully comprehend and effectively apply this knowledge. Furthermore, educators’ retraining should not only be supported by private sector, but it should be a matter of concern for state institutions as well, having specific goals, means of achieving and evaluation procedures. In Greece, it is rather rare to meet surveys like this, so it would be more than beneficial to probe further to this matter in the years to come. [
