A linguistic approach to ERP Systems (Bachelor thesis)

The present paper is the thesis of the undergraduate student Bouronikos Marios within the requirements of obtaining his diploma from Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. This paper is entitled: “A linguistic approach to ERP Systems”. The reason why this thesis is structured, is the studying of ERP Systems and the referring to the reasons that make them necessary in an enterprise. The meaning of ERP Systems as well as their main characteristics and their goals in an enterprise are being described. There’s a reference to the different criteria and methods that the enterprises use, in order to choose the best ERP System which covers their needs. Furthermore, we mention the adoption of ERP Systems by Greek enterprises and the result that these systems have in the Greek market. It’s also being described the collaboration of ERP Systems with other systems and applications, and the influence they have on enterprises and their business partners. For example, systems like CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and SCM (Supply Chain Management), applications like e-Business, the internet. Finally, we refer to the problems that the enterprises face because of the ERP Systems adoption, during their installation and/or after the end of it.

Description: In the first chapter we analyze the definition of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, their goals, the advantages and disadvantages that may appear from their use and even benefits that the enterprises can gain from their installation and use. The second chapter includes the business needs that ERP Systems cover in an enterprise as well as the modules that they manage, in order for the enterprise to operate appropriately.  In the third chapter we refer to the criteria that the enterprises must consider in order to choose the most suitable system, the methods that are used from the organizations and the steps of the installation of the ERP System that has been chosen.  In the fourth chapter there’s a reference to the ERP Systems in the Greek market and the Greek enterprises. In the fifth chapter we present the way that ERP Systems combine with the application of e-Business and the way they collaborate with SCM and CRM Systems. Finally, in the sixth chapter we show problems that ERP Systems may have during their use.
