heal.abstractThe great development of heterogeneous networks nowadays has led technology into fertile ground for users of all mobile devices and the evolution of these networks. Users enjoy the benefits of this rapid growth in their daily lives and require continually higher quality services. The integration of heterogeneous wireless networks is one of the most important features that is needed for the future deployment of new wireless technologies such as 4G mobile systems. However, the designers of these systems are also committed to using Internet Protocol (IP) as their core network infrastructure. Thus, support for vertical handover, location, and mobility management needs to be provided within the IP framework. For these reasons, the study of higher layers protocols is crucial. Standards as Media Independent Handover is an effort to help the transportation from one network to another.en
